I am currently self emlpoyed, doing freelance work here and there on a number of projects, though I might be getting some more full time work soon.
Hobbies other than Anime:
Hmm... this list has changed somewhat... Lately, my hobbies haven't had much voice, since I left a lot of the artifacts of my hobbies in storage in California. However, I still enjoy doing most of my computer related hobbies, which are listed below.
Computers:
I spend most of my time on the computer hanging out with my friends on the internet in an environment known as IRC, or Internet Relay Chat. Many of my friends from all over the US and even the world congregate to hang out together in this place, many of them I have met through either anime or through other friends. Lately I've taken up Instant Messaging as well, since a lot of my friends who don't make it onto IRC can be found on IMs. If you want to message me, you can find my contact information linked from this site somewhere. I figure if you really are that desperate to reach me, you'll do the work. ^_~
The second thing that takes most of my time on the computer is my hobby for CGI (Computer generated Images) and graphics, as well as the occasional web design project. As stated on the opening page to this site, I have been working with computer graphics in various fields for several years. Most of my work has been in Adobe Photoshop and Lightwave 3-D, despite a small period of time when I was employed as a CAD modeler and draftsman.
Most of my work in Photoshop has been involved with touching up scanned images, and designing graphics for my web pages. As of late, I have been doing more in Photoshop such as various experiments special effects such as building textures for my models and other 2-D graphic effects. Though I do have to admit, until I began work on this revision of the site, my work on graphics has suffered something fierce.
I also love to tinker and try out new things with my computer. I have a passion for working on PCs and like to solve any problem that they throw my way. Whether it be the operating system, the software, the hardware, or the network, I love to jump into the midst of the problem and learn. Many times I have been told that I am probably nuts for re-arranging/re-installing my systems every few months, but this always causes new problems/challenges to arise, when I always learn something new; so I will continue to do so until there is nothing left to learn...which will not be for a /very/ long time, perhaps never. ^_^
Music:
I have been a musician most of my life, singing and playing various instruments as long as I can remember. My mother always made sure I was involved in a musical or some other form of musical expression, and when I entered fourth grade, she enrolled me in band at the school I was attending. Since then, I have been able to pick up most any instrument and learn the basics of it within 10 minutes.
When I entered high school, I was the only freshman in the school's history to ever make it into the equivalent of the honour choir, the Madrigals. In 10th grade, I took advanced placement music theory as well as remaining in Madrigals and began writing music at that time. Since then, I have been writing mostly parody music, some of which was expressed via a music group I was a part of.
I was with that band for about a year before parting ways and managed a local cassette release of my music with them. Since then, I have been a studio musician and a music theory/basic rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard and theory.
Skaaaaaaaaaaatch!
Road Trips:
In the past few years, I have reinvested in my love for travel. I have always loved traveling, but since about 1994, I have not had the chance to indulge myself in travel as circumstances in life have always prevented it. However, as of the past year and a half, I have had the opportunity to begin to explore the world around me in several road trips to San Jose, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Barstow, and Santa Barbara. Usually lasting two days, these trips have provided a great getaway and wonderful break from the humdrum of everyday life. I hope someday to take road trips as far as Canada, and possibly across the United States if I can. Though recently, I've only had the ability for one toad trip; the road trip that moved me out to Chicago. Perhaps the longest trip I've taken in over 15 years.
So what am I doing now?
Like I said, I'm still doing freelance work and building up a network here in Chicago, and of course, the convention is always on my mind. I have been working on small projects in web design, Photoshop, and Lightwave, but nothing that has come to full fruition other than this website, which is the most complete site about myself and my interests that I have built in a long time.
One other thing that may be worth mentioning at least a little bit is my recent entry into the world of MU**, which are multi-user online games. Due to the foo of life in general, I have had to reduce my active RP to only one game, and my learning to another. But the upside is that I have recently the gang on SilverSkies Pern MUSH as well as Threadfall MUSH, which is also a Pern MUSh, and am having an absolute blast with my characters despite my awkward online schedule as of late. There is not a lot to mention at this point other than again suggesting you take a look around this site and its links.
Photos!
So what do you get for reading all of this? I have put together a few recent photos for you, inspired by a friend of mine's website. I don't have the wonderful code they used, but if you want to see a few pics, click here.
